I was notified today, via an RSS feed, about Google’s philanthropic efforts and was brought over to google.org. Their strategies and goals parallel a lot of what I am going to be doing in my future. Many large-scale philanthropy infrastructures have big goals but I believe they are really missing the boat on improving this world. The philosophy of their missions stop at very limiting conclusions in my opinion. However, it is very exciting to see a large organization executing a similar strategy with its ability to influence that I will be in my life. Google co-founder Larry Page comes from the same place that I do in Michigan. It is good to see an old neighbor attempting to improve the world. This has completely reshaped how I view my relationship with Google. Up until now I only cared about search rankings with them. Now they have gained a new relevance in the life of Brian Watkins and Watkins Corporation.
